IPTV in the United States
IPTV for American households, from Maine to Hawaii
Smartiflix gives US homes live channels, sports and an on-demand library over the internet connection they already pay for. Here is what to know about time zones, internet plans and devices before you switch.

Six time zones, one guide
Make the TV guide match your clock
Live channels broadcast on their own schedules. Set your device and player app to your local time zone so “what’s on now” really means now.
Eastern (ET)
New York, Florida, Georgia, Ohio. Prime time usually 8–11 p.m.
Central (CT)
Texas, Illinois, Minnesota. Many national shows air an hour earlier, 7–10 p.m.
Mountain (MT)
Colorado, Utah, most of Arizona — which skips daylight saving time.
Pacific (PT)
California, Washington, Oregon. East Coast live sports often start in the afternoon.
Alaska and Hawaii
In Alaska and Hawaii, set the guide offset to your zone as well. Hawaii does not use daylight saving time, so your offset from the mainland changes twice a year.
Your internet plan
Which US internet connections work well
| Connection type | For live TV | Watch out for |
|---|---|---|
| Fiber | Excellent | Router placement in larger homes |
| Cable broadband | Very good | Monthly data caps on some plans; evening congestion |
| 5G / fixed wireless home internet | Good in strong-signal areas | Speed varies through the day; place the receiver by a window |
| DSL | Fine for one HD screen | Several screens at once can be too much |
| Satellite internet | Works with newer low-orbit services | Data allowances and weather on older services |
Data caps, in real numbers
Some US internet plans include a monthly data allowance. HD streaming can use up to about 3 GB an hour, so four hours of HD TV a day comes to roughly 360 GB a month.
Check your plan in your provider’s app. If you are close to a cap, lowering the quality on secondary screens makes a big difference.

The devices US households already have
Fire TV Sticks, Google TV and Apple TV boxes are common in American homes, and all of them work well with Smartiflix. Samsung and LG Smart TVs usually work directly with a player app from their own store.
Roku is also very popular in the US, but its store rarely carries suitable IPTV player apps. If Roku runs your main TV, the simple answer is an inexpensive streaming stick on a spare HDMI port; you keep Roku for everything else.

IPTV in the USA: common questions
Does Smartiflix work in every US state?
Yes. The service runs over the internet, so it works anywhere in the United States with a suitable home connection, including Alaska and Hawaii.
Can I take Smartiflix on a road trip or to a vacation home?
You can watch wherever you have a good internet connection, on a phone, tablet or a streaming stick you bring along. Keep an eye on mobile data if you use a hotspot.
Does a cheaper internet plan affect picture quality?
Speed matters up to a point: about 10 Mbps per HD stream is enough. Above that, a stable connection and a good router placement matter more than paying for a faster plan.
Do I pay sales tax?
Your payment confirmation shows the exact amount charged. If you need a receipt for your records, email us.
