Live sports on Smartiflix, without missing the moment

Sports channels sit in their own category in the Smartiflix guide. Here is what you can find there, why every live stream runs a few seconds behind, and how to get the smoothest picture on game night.

Good to know

Why the stream is a few seconds behind

Every internet video stream keeps a small buffer, a few seconds of video saved ahead, so the picture keeps playing smoothly if the connection wobbles. That buffer is why your neighbor on cable may cheer a moment before you do.

It is normal for any IPTV or streaming service. If spoilers bother you, mute the group chat until the final whistle.

Match-night checklist

  • Restart the router a few hours before, not at kickoff
  • TV on Ethernet, or 5 GHz Wi-Fi near the router
  • Pause console updates and big downloads
  • Add the channel to favorites in advance
  • Set the guide to your time zone to catch the right start time

Picture & sound

Make fast action look its best

  • Frame rate: on Apple TV, turn on Match Frame Rate; on other devices, keep the default auto settings.
  • Motion smoothing: many fans like it on for sports. Try a game with it on and off.
  • Sound: a soundbar makes crowd noise and commentary far clearer than TV speakers.
  • Second screen: follow another game on a tablet, if your plan covers two screens at once.

Sports questions

Can Smartiflix confirm a specific game before I order?

Yes, ask us about the sport, league or event. We tell you honestly what the current line-up covers, rather than promising everything.

Are sports channels in HD?

Many are available in HD, and some events in higher resolutions. What you see depends on your connection and device too.

The game freezes at the big moment. What can I do?

Live sports put the most strain on Wi-Fi. A network cable to the TV is the single best fix; our support team can help with the rest.

Is your sport covered? Ask before you order.

Tell us the sport and league you follow and we will check the current sports channels for you.
